Move over Capitalism, Socialism is taking the higher ground. A Pandemic discussion from self-isolation.

Ashton Deroy Writes: It appears Covid19 is only intensifying talks of Socialism and what we do and don’t want for it. What are our new rules? What do they mean for us? How is Socialism taking the higher social grounds during this pandemic?

Socialism is a system of governance that happens either by necessity or by agitation. After all it is said that after World War 2 Socialism rebuilt the United Kingdom. While in another example in the case of Cuba the people got tired of Western democracy and capitalism. The people revolted and overthrew it!

Regardless Socialism is here right now. What are the the new rules & features? Well it seems like one feature society does not want to put down is Universal Basic income. It seems like that will have to find a place in whatever Social system is set up in place of our current system. There is just an overall agreement that Pandemic’s show a crucial time for the use of a Universal Basic Income. Especially in cases of turning people away from certain irresponsible employers still operating their infectious office places of work during this time. I am definitely talking about call centers.

What does Universal Basic Income mean for us? It means reconsidering what work we think is worth doing at this time. One might argue that to flatten the curve in relation to Covid19. We may want to consider buying out the participation of unskilled laborers in the economy so that we can ease the burden felt by healthcare later. I also believe after we could return to a labor economy that would be the ideal in the long run though.

We also need to look at improving the treatment of the elderly. This includes not unnecessarily avoiding elderly relatives who may be dependent on the help of others. Don’t get me wrong. This is an incredibly complex time where we have to consider whether a cold we have could possibly kill our grandparents. However according to people working in healthcare and finance a lot the elderly go abandoned in times of mass pandemic. Which in the long run is not going to help their overall well-being.

The Corona-virus is statistically devastating because it does have the potential to be the sickness to wipe out many of our older relatives. On the other hand sometimes you have to weigh infection versus how safe an elderly person can practically take care of themselves on their own. We need to come up with solutions so that the elderly don’t feel abandoned at this time. This may include the feature in looking at the cost of socialized home care for older people in the communities.

Why Socialism is on the higher moral ground? Socialism asks “What are our obligations to each other?” Where as Capitalism naturally asks, “what are our obligations to ourselves?” We have a responsibility to a collective at this point in time. If you have the chance put down your self interests and be strategic in your collectives.

Proof of Jango Property Management and Jamie Macari’s homophobia.

Ashton Deroy writes: Posting from 544 Victoria st, Kingston Ontario. Jango Property Management issue.

In January 2020 I moved in to a house in Kingston Ontario where the Property Manager’s Super attendant had clear prejudices to LGBTQ2S people. He didn’t choose to go about his prejudices by banning LGBTQ2S Renters. However I am going to talk about his intent to discriminate as it played out in the context it played out. Then what you will see? Is that discrimination no matter the shape or form just basically sucks.

The above is a Tweet from Jamie Macari I am going to use to prove something my roommate had said to me. “He has admitted to me intention to discriminate gay & French people.” That was the exact quote from the roommate as it was said. How did this play out in the household?

Let us note at the first house meeting in January 2 LGBTQ2S Tenants pleaded with the Super Attendant to allow their romantic partners to visit the home. Let us also note that he refused with a rationalization that stated it as a resource problem. However the understanding I have now had is this. Jamie Macari believes that homosexuality or being LGBTQ is a negative choice. As outlined by the Tweet above.

For the sake that Jamie believes being LGBTQ2S is a choice. I believe he banned LGBTQ2S Tenants from having guests (along with others)  to force his ideals. The fact that he believes the lifestyle is a negative choice that one can use to distance themselves from god means that he was using the terms of the lease to force us to distance ourselves from our lifestyle which he believes to be an offense to god! This was a coy backhanded way to force his nonacceptance on us and I won’t accept it as anything else.

Jamie believes that Canada is forcing him to accept LGBTQ2S people and their diversity on him. He believes that in encouraging acceptance of us he is the victim along with his religion. Not the LGBTQ2S tenants he has driven in to isolation. How dare he?

The fact that I was damaged as an act of collateral damage does not subtract the fact that he was using this no overnights policy to enforce a homophobic belief. If others can’t read in to underlying dialogue they must be blind to circumstance. Playing jump rope with the boundaries of homophobia is why we struggle to have a full execution of our charter rights within Canada. This can not be allowed!

This can not stand as is. I have been pleading and I will continue to plead, do research and move forward. In an effort to expose the discrimination I have been put through. Jamie has a record of saying homophobic things based on his own free will. He has degraded the LGBTQ2S population based on his own free will. If we allow him to take in LGBTQ2S tenants and not permit their overnight romantic guests. Then we are allowing for him to participate a rental situation that permits systemic violence to LGBTQ2S persons within Kingston Ontario. A very diverse and loving community.

Dropping Socialist rhetoric for a second. Obviously, I support Mixed Economies.

Capitalism is not doomed

Ashton Deroy writes: Rhetoric to me is speaking creatively with an image we’ve created for ourselves. I am not some Russian loving Commy though. I call myself a Socialist, but I wasn’t the first person to call myself that. It was an insult that was thrown at me by a Conservative relative! I just happened to find out Socialism has been the backbone to every major Civil rights movement in North America. Also, Socialist feminism was the best alternative to feminine alienation. The destruction of the Unions has meant we have actually begun slipping from the prosperity of capitalism to the poor workers’.

However, objectively speaking. I think we all should know the answer is not a purely Socialist system or a purely capitalist system. The answer if we are going to sustain our economies & communities has to be a middle ground. This is where? You take some ideas from Socialism for example geared by income housing, Universal Healthcare & democratization of the workplace. While also keeping aspects of Capitalism such as private ownership, gains on investment & profit. The point is you intelligently design a system with both of these things & that is where the answer lays.

I will continue to call myself a Socialist though. Sorry to say this but I think Socialism gets an overly bad spin in North America. I am genuinely offended by the waive of anti-socialist sentiment by certain Conservatives. You need to realize our world needs both of our ideologies & Capitalism without Socialism is slavery. Socialism without Capitalism can be tyranny.

Shout out to my Step Brother Matt Clarke who I ran Liberty Brothers with. He is a Libertarian Conservative & an ex NDP voter. He & I had a falling out over Politics. He had been a PPC supporter & I was a Liberal. Somehow with me becoming an NDP supporter & him going Conservative though we have been able to find more common ground.

3 issues with Belleville Ontario Public Transit

3 Issues with Belleville Public Transit.pngAshton Deroy writes: Trenton & Belleville Ontario are growing and are set to grow more with tourism. However one of the biggest issues I have brought up to the Bay of Quinte in the expansion is the lacking infrastructure for public transit. We have a lacking transit system that does not work, but we are still way too ready to tell people to rely on their livelihoods with a hit or miss bus. It is ridiculous.

Here are three clear problems with the Belleville Transit system.

  1. One way transit system– I get home from school faster than I get to school. Why is this? It is because my home comes after the college on the bus route. Meaning instead of the bus taking me the simple 5 K from my nearest stop to college. I am doing the entire trip back to the terminal before I can even get to the college.
  2. 1 hour until your next bus – If I miss a bus at 10 minutes after 7:00p.m. . I have to wait until 8:10pm just to be able to get home 5k in the cold
  3. It is legitimately faster to walk at times- For example if I just missed 12:10pm bus and I needed to get home in an hour. It would be faster for me to walk home then it would be to wait for the next bus to arrive.

Other issues with Belleville Public Transit

  1. No full functioning nightlife service– If we want to reduce impaired driving it is vital we have an ongoing service for popular pub nights. Neglecting that we need not think we have enough alternatives to prevent drunk driving.
  2. Lousy weekend service – Saturday & Sunday really should have full day bus service. They do not… I think we should fix that because if Belleville is going to handle tourism. They are going to need adequate bus systems.
  3. Over filled bus – We need to add more buses on routes like the #7. Just because right now people are close to sitting on the roof of the bus at this point. How do we fix this? Add another bus during peek use times. This is large part of why I avoid the bus at 8:00am , 12:00pm and 6:00pm because they are crowded bus times.
  4. Accessibility issues – The fact is the bus creates accessibility to work, education and broad transportation would make Quinte West & Belleville fully accessible. In fact we don’t have a more functional bus service. Why don’t we expect disabled people to get anywhere past 8:00pm on a Sunday?
  5. Not meeting the demands of the laborers or employers – The lowest earners are laborers who are clearly dependent on transit. Chances are they have not had a job over 3 months, they make less than $20,000 making them dependent on the cheapest form of transportation. So when HGS, who I reference all the time demands people make a midnight shift. How are these laborers who are at the lowest end of the societal incomes supposed to get to work? The answer is they don’t & this is why I quit my job at HGS.

Improvements since I first wrote this post

  1. Belleville added an express bus for Loyalist College – I could easily make this in to a negative point. The stupid express book has taken me to the terminal when I have wanted to go home 5 times now! However, this is an improvement for the mass of riders who do not want to be smothered by the mass of Loyalist College students riding Monday – Friday.

If the bus is not working with our current setup. I am curious as to why we keep running the bus this way? With the current demand for the bus and the fact that Belleville is supposed to be an urban place, how the bus runs makes 0 sense. We need to run at least the 2 buses an hour system at least until 10:00p.m. , We should opt for a 2 way bus system similar to Toronto & we need to clear bus routes so that people can get places much faster.

3 Reasons why asking others for directions bothers some men you travel with.

Men and directions

Written by Ashton Deroy:

This is a conversational blog piece on relationships.

By now everyone should know of the cliche on men not liking to ask others for directions. It is a pet peeve of mine. It gets on some of our nerves. It is not just a matter of not wanting to do it ourselves, we actually don’t like when people we travel with do it! Why don’t we like this? I am going to explain 3 obvious reasons we don’t like asking for directions.

  1. You expose weakness – Take for example when I was in Oshawa this weekend to help my friend prepare for college. We were downtown Oshawa trying to find our way around. My friend Glessie thinks, lets ask someone for directions. There is a big difference in who street savvy men will ask for directions and  who women with good interpersonal skills will ask for directions. Women with higher interpersonal skills think you can ask everyone as long as they do not look sketchy. Men are programmed differently. If we do ask for directions we ask a security guard, a store employee, someone who if they mugged us we could identify something about their occupation. What women don’t realize they are doing? You are telling some random person on the street. “Hi we are lost here. We are either tourists or vulnerable persons who could be isolated & ambushed easily.”  In fact in 100 Deadly Skills by Clint Emerson he talks about blending in to the environment you are in. One of the things that will make someone stick out is identifying they don’t know where they are going or how they will get there. This exposes a vulnerability that makes you a potential victim for an attack. https://www.miamiherald.com/news/local/crime/article212749359.html man gets away with $760 in cash for robbing a Florida tourist.(They always go after the tourist or lost person
  2. You expose incompetence – Asking for directions to me is like saying, “Hi we barely know how to follow a Google Maps instruction. Can you explain our route to where we are going?” No guy wants to look like he is bad with technology. Also the other thing you expose is if a crime occurs you will barely be able to tell the authorities the name of the street it occurred on in time for anything to be done about it. Why is this? If you needed directions, chances are you don’t f***** know where you are!
  3. You get the right answer 33% of the time – This is the biggest reason I will not travel long distance without data, a fully charged cellphone battery or someone who doesn’t know exactly where the heck we are going! Chances are only 1/3 of the people you ask for directions will give you the right directions. It isn’t always their fault. They were not on your trip! You are, you should be taking responsibility for your entire trip. On a side note, I also give people bad advice on directions all the time. Usually they are shouting at me out the car window for directions and I just have no idea where the 401 is!

Listen there is a value to knowing how to get where you are going. Personally if I think someone will need spoken directions to get somewhere I would simply rather not travel with them. Invest in getting an independent sense of direction. Men do not want to be with the girl who is ready to ask anyone on the street, “Hi, do you know how to get here?” I am Ashton Deroy and please, break this habit as soon as possible.

It is time to stop using the “S” word so freely. Politics with Ashton Deroy.

Stop saying the S word

Ashton Deroy writes: Does this sound familiar? “Liberals & New Democrats are socialists. It is not the job of the state to look after the needs of the people!” Liberals & New Democrats are not socialists. What is socialism? Google defines socialism as, “a political and economic theory of social organization which advocates that the means of production, distribution, and exchange should be owned or regulated by the community as a whole.” We still live in a society where ownership mostly controls means employment & achieves the majority of wealth. In other words, Ontario is still Capitalist.

How do I prove we are not socialist or even toying with it politically at this time? Well first off neither of our major left-wing parties in Canada is socialist, social programs are not the main symptom of socialism & if we attack the left as socialist, we are setting up a kind of revolution. The deep thought I want to set you up for if we call them socialist do they become socialists? I think as we go on your will realize the answer might become yes.

Why is it time to stop using the “S” word? Conservatives and Alt-Right people are throwing around the word socialism to describe anyone on the left? I am a Liberal. What does that mean? It means I am open to new behaviors that disregard traditional values. In Canada, I also consider Liberalism’s backbone is that we don’t oppress the working class anymore than is necessary to have a functional working economy while caring for the welfare of our vulnerable population. In the case of our New Democrats, they are more left-wing, but still not socialist because they do have a primary focus on job creation

Social programs are not the main features of socialism. The increased use of them has far more to do with health epidemics, no-accommodation in the workplace & an inability to complete High School education. What happens in a socialist society? Usually, the government puts out so much in social aide that it no longer makes sense to work in Canada. Our income assistance programs are quite intent on getting people into long term employment, I can testify as someone who was on assistance recently.

Now it is time for the “R” word. No, it is not the one disparage people with autism. It is the word revolution. In the past, I have made reference to the revolution as a positive thing. It is not a positive thing that left-wing people are going “hmmm, socialism that doesn’t sound bad!” It does not help that Ontario’s premiere is being largely accused of political warfare on the lower class. This only serves to enhance the problem. Add to that the right-wing Conservative/Libertarian males who treat anyone who can’t work for their own income as less than a person. Yes, these are things that will lead to a revolution and the scary part is poor people commit the most violent crimes, poor people have organized themselves in prior decades to have some of the most violent human rights protests in our history! Take for example Stonewall. They treat LGBTQ2s people like outsiders of society and they fought back! Not good, not good at all! If you abandon the lowest class of society are low-income immigrants, refugees and disabled Canadians they will not hesitate to steal, kill & possibly organize an aggressive socialist movement.

Are you using the “S” word to provoke arguments with the left-wing Canadians? You need to think twice about this. A violent socialist revolution is being provoked in our country by the growth of our Progressive Conservatives, class warfare and simply telling the lowest class of people that helping them survive in difficult economic times is simply too much! Accommodation in the workforce, workplace Unions and or an emergency income is by no means not too much to ask for. Continued exploitation and aggravating an aggravated class of people is a dangerous road to explore, so put the “S” word away and be cautious.

Tyendinaga & Marijuana safe shop index. Also the Marijuana Blacklist.

Tyendinaga & Marijuana safe shop index

Ashton Deroy Writes: This index is for my tribe of stoners to let them know about safe & unsafe cannabis purchasing locations. Click my name to check out my Facebook page. Please like and Subscribe for the update. This is my Tyendinaga & Marijuana safe shop index. Thank you for clicking on to my website. Just a reminder that marijuana from the reservation is considered purchasing illegal cannabis. I very much recommend purchasing legal containers to store your illegal cannabis.

The reason for creating this safe shop index is so that family & friends have access to information on acquiring marijuana safely from different available resources.

Oasis

My step Brother Matt recommended Green Grass Oasis. While I wouldn’t say much on the Res comes close to medicinal quality. Green Grass Oasis comes pretty close. I have been able to successfully use their THC and CBD products when in need.

Organic Green Dispensary was recommended by my uncle. Name is omitted. They gave us free joints on 4/20 and they have the best selection of edible products in Tyendinaga.

Better Buds is recommended by a friend Ryan. He says he likes the variety. Thank you Ryan for letting other people know the safe places to shop on the Res. I am sure the readers and close social circle will appreciate this information.

Ontario Cannabis Store

No shame in buying legal!

I understand people in my stoner tribe might have a few objections to buying legal Marijuana. However, the OCS is used by healthcare providers in the tribe, colleagues & I used it myself to buy Tangerine Dream. That is a high-quality Cannabis Cup 2010 winning strain. Also the quality is higher & the taste is better for those of us stoners who love a clean marijuana strain for a mid-afternoon high tea time.

Spark Medical Cannabis

Do you know the pros of medical cannabis?

  1. Tax Deductible as a medical expense
  2. Social stigma is often removed as a medical user who consulted with healthcare providers.
  3. You can travel anywhere in Canada with medical cannabis.

“However, the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) allows for medical cannabis to be claimed as a “medical expense” deduction on your federal income taxes, the same way you can claim the cost of hearing aids, insulin, or a wheelchair. Here’s how it works.” RateHub, 2019

Black List

Legacy 420

Legacy 420 Is blacklisted. Unnamed sources from my stoner tribe put out rumors that range from product tampering to the store being gang-affiliated. It is a shame, they had these cool radio ads I used to hear from Rock 107. My favorite Quinte West radio station.

Pot Shoppe

The Pot Shoppe is now blacklisted due to the fact a cashier attempted to give my roommate improper change to pocket a lot of extra cash. We are talking they used to do big business with the shop. Then they decided to blacklist them because of one attempt at an unethical behavior. The shop also runs a radio station with music I am sure they do not have the rights to. I am not sure how copyright law is executed on Tyendinaga but I imagine if caught they could land themselves in some hot water!

Forward Finances Social media plan

Digital Marketing Consultant 2019

For my Business Community Projects class me and a few other students played a crucial role in helping to develop Forward Finances Social Media Marketing Plan. My Digital Marketing background played a key role in making recommendations, suggesting engaging content and knowing what to boost & what to post. We helped clients that otherwise did not understand social media & we got them connected to resources that would help them market their brand with expertise. To Jeanette Ramnarine and Richard Ramnarine, I am grateful I got the opportunity to work on your project.

Hawkins Cheezies Sustainability Proposal

Had a bit of a struggle in my academic pursuit of a Social Responsibility & Sustainability assignment to include in my portfolio. This is the year of the Climate Emergency in Canada. I want to show that I am someone who takes the ramifications of the issue seriously. I struggled, I had a fit, & I didn’t want to go in this direction for my proposal. Just because my personal feelings are that Hawkins Cheezies respects their employees way more than any employer I have ever served in Telecommunications. However, I did write about some Sustainability issues surrounding Hawkin’s Cheezies. Please click the link below to read.

The WordPress Manager, I’m back with merit

cropped-cartoon-pro-centennial-park-trenton-ontario.png

Hey guys,

I am back and ready to re-boot this project with a solo sales effort. I actually pitched this website management service in my Entrepreneur’s class at Loyalist College & got a 94%. Unfortunately, I don’t let myself feel pride for much other than making money & selling stuff. Here is my 4 step plan to make sure this incarnation takes off for this project.

Step 1:

Find new portfolio clients. I need to get in the habit of finding these motivated clients & really growing their projects from sales, to advocacy and public relations.

Step 2:

Investing in Fiverr partners. In 2018 I had tried to partner with Soundcloud stations, designers & PR companies.

Step 3

Write or sell every day. My current job at a factory already tires me out physically. There is no reason not to sit at my computer once a day and hunt for contacts or write an article. I am going to make a lot more impact by dedicating to this process than I will focus on anything else right now.

Step 4:

Try Facebook & Instagram advertising again. On one hand, some of the changes on these platforms bum me out. On the other hand, it is still the only platform where I have had success bringing in a client.

What we have achieved so far?

  • 109 WordPress followers
  • One client
  • 94% pitching this idea in Entrepreneurs class
  • Buying back the AshtonDeroy.com web domain. (I let it go a few years ago
