This place is exactly like many of the negative reviews. In fact, it’s worse. Mega clicky environment, if you don’t fit in you, ‘ll be either ignored, talked about or bullied passively by management and co-workers. Its who you know and those with friends here get the best shifts, can slack be late and they watch their backs and don’t get fired. Training is seriously a nightmare because it is so boring and made for 8-year-olds or younger. You have to sit in class and play silly games in a group and answer the most childish questions like why you shouldn’t say bad words etc.

If you are in a class where others goof around, are loud make rude comments and you complain, management will do nothing. They talk about policy and rules for bullying, harassment but there is racism, sexism and bullying and even when they know and it’s reported they do zero to address it. If you don’t want to play their games or join in in one of their huddles or food sharing then you will be hated and you won’t last there.” – Tech support StarTek.

This is a criminal offense & this is disgusting! We need to deal with StarTek in Kingston Ontario and assess the fact that at this time it does not fit into the Kingston Community ideals. Maybe we need to copy other communities and kick StarTek out of the community. All I am saying is definitely do not rule it out!

Kingston Ontario values equality, human dignity & living wages. We can not simply justify even leaving StarTek alone. They must be addressed with the full extent of our powers. This means sharing information on multiple platforms and continuing to follow up with bad employee experiences.

Demands at this time! 

  1. StarTek must provide a living wage – This is non-negotiable. If you want to employ over 100 people in Kingston it is my social prerogative to demand you provide those employees with a living wage.   2. Racism & Bullying must be addressed in a satisfactory way – This even means mitigating the bullying committed by management. No, we do not recognize your interpretation of employment laws and individual reviews!  Stop bullying people out of the building. Again I repeat. MAKE THIS CHANGE NOW!
  3. Human resources – It has been brought to my attention by my network of ex and current StarTek employees that HR is currently just a pawn for Corporate interests. Your Human Resources needs to be reviewed by employees at StarTek and we need to determine if a conflict of interest is blocking the correct execution of employee rights as stated by law. Not as interpreted by corporate interests. If Human Resources is biased towards the company than they must be removed immediately. THIS NEEDS TO BE CHANGED NOW!
  4. Ex Employees call for the alienation of StarTek Booths at job fairs. Until such a time when their work standards are fixed. We are calling for unemployed people to not engage with StarTek out in the community. They are not welcome members of the Kingston Ontario community period!
  5. Sick notes are over & so are sick day limits – Workers must be allowed to regulate their own sick notes. Also to take sick days at their own discretion. No one chooses to get sick. No one skips a day of pay without thought.

Ashton Deroy writes: Belleville Ontario & Quinte West has a massive problem with Sexism. This isn’t a fact I need to back with stats, because it is just innate common knowledge from within the community. Sexual harassment in the workplace isn’t so much a rarity here as it is a common occurrence from within the workplace. In my Sustainability proposal I did outline how Sexist behavior isn’t so much being addressed in the community. As much as it is being embraced as a regular part of the work culture in Hawkin’s Cheesies. However it is not an exclusive issue to this company.

At Hinduja Global Services I witnessed my friend to be forced through arranged seating to be sat near a man who was not only a drug dealer! He was also trying to harass her for a pair of her panties. This is unacceptable! This should have never been allowed. Maybe if Hinduja Global Services in Belleville Ontario can’t commit to addressing sexism in the workplace they should lose the privilege to assign seating. 

I am now committed to calling out sexism. To start because this will be a radical shift for the culture of Bay of Quinte as well as Belleville Ontario. I am going to call out in the most radical fashion imaginable! I might be a pain in the neck about it, but it is going to happen. It is time to recognize this is a United Nations Sustainability commitment and I don’t consider changing sexist culture as a matter of free speech, I consider this a human rights issue! 

Not only sexism, but if I see Transphobia going forward. I am going to react! It is time Transgender people feel safer in our communities. Yet we continue to enforce culture of misgendering, back talking & bullying in our workplaces, charities & communities. If our municipal politicians are not going to address this. I will address these issues! I am seeing a lot of consistency with my opinions on the Federal level, but not provincially & not municipally & it is time for that to change.

 Commitment to call out racism. The reason I haven’t finished this blog is that I was still attending a college within Belleville Ontario that has a rather racist reputation. I am talking about Loyalist College. A place where there majority of people alienate our East Indian students. I am tired of aiding in environments where these potentially new Canadians feel less included & unwelcome. Personally anyone who comes to Canada to develop a skill & work is welcome in my books & I will no longer leave room for people to say otherwise.

That picture is linked to a Google review link which widely associates Loyalist College with racism. It is something the college must work on if they are going to continue to be an attractive option for International students. 

This is a personal commitment I will continue to use in my educational, professional and leisure pursuits. I will be on social media & out about connecting with marginalized members of the community and talking to them about their concerns. Then I will come to this high traffic Independent Belleville website & I will start giving the real news of the people of progressing these problems. Through my tag research & website statistics, I have learned I have a presence in this community. This is a presence I fully intend to use for the better. 

Commitment on abortion: This will continue to be an political topic I support not reopening. I will strive to censor pro-abortion groups or defame people associated with these groups. This is a division I will not compromise on! It is women of my income level who require unrestricted access to these services. Not the wealthy moralistic controlling members of society who are oppressing in my class & whom I continue to loathe!

3 Major Problems in the Fido contract at HGS

Ashton Deroy writes: Hey guys, so the last review I wrote on Google was for HGS where I was employed from May 6th 2019 – June 17th 2019. Unlike the review which focused on problems with the employer & company that outsources customer care. This article is going to focus on the issues with Fido as a company. This article will not reveal confidential client information, aim to hurt operations of the telecom company or be used to make HGS seem like an unappealing vendor to other organizations.

To start Fido is a company with a lot of issues. This is a company Trust Pilot rates as a 1-star bad company. As an ex-employee of an outsourcer, my remark is, “No kidding.” The company has been poorly handling customer communications, it blatantly disregards ethics in both call center operations and at sales vendors & lastly the automation practices of the company come off as inconsiderate cash grabs.

First off let us talk about Fido poorly handling customer communications. Say you are with Fido & you happen to be a senior. You have become used to receiving and paying a paper bill. Now you just stop receiving a bill. You don’t know how much you owe, you don’t really understand what happened & now all the sudden you are being made to register Fido.ca to view your bill. The Fido.ca point will be touched on later in this article as well because it is apart of their automation problem. This practice is nothing more than negligence and as a customer service rep, I think Fido shares the blame with certain delinquent customers for using poor business communications practices and being sneaky in their executions.

Secondly, Fido is blatantly disregarding ethics. What is the overage rate for Fido Pulse plans? $10 for 100mb. National Post goes as far as to claim 47% of Canadians go over their data cap. Cellphone bills are also generally criticized as being 24%- 27% cheaper in the United States. Want to know the real kicker? Fido has no ethical way to prove beyond a shadow of a doubt to a reasonable person that you used the data we claimed on a bill. It is the truth because in order to prove your data overages we would need permission to see what applications, browser pages &, etc use what data. That means we would need to totally surveil your phone. Data usage is an inexact science and it needs to be thrown out of use by cellphone companies! Fido, in particular, deserves the blame in this case for continuing to use outdated practices after the introduction of Shock free Data by Koodo & Unlimited Data by Bell Mobility and Rogers Communications.

Lastly, let us talk about harmful and disgusting automation practices. What is wrong with this company? Now just for taking a bill payment over the phone customers have to pay a $10 account handling fee. It is disgusting! Why does Fido do this? So they can encourage customers to make payments on Fido.ca or the interactive voice system. Therefore not requiring the interaction of any kind to accept payment. Here is the gross part. I speculate they want this practice to work because Fido wants to eliminate customer checks and balances which lead to conversations like usage disputes. It is my feeling Fido is acting in such a way to punish customers for not simply laying down and agreeing to pay over inflated bills.

I want to conclude by also stating there is plenty more wrong with Fido. They still continue to practice high-pressure sales tactics by enforcing agent stats such as MRC (Monthly recurring costs.) They also force agents to make sales offers with their Telli system and make customers wait hellish amounts of time to speak with supervisors for consistent billing issues. There was also an incident where I worked for Fido where a man scammed his mother by having his device balance placed on her account. The sales representative also participated in this. Never the less to conclude Fido was terrible to work for & it is terrible to be a customer of. They poorly communicate with their customers, they disregard ethics & they are automating payment practices to selfishly eliminate cost disputes and fair billing practices. If you ask me I hope this company goes out of business before 2030.
