Case study:

1. The Conservative way – Hold the customer to the return value of the Sales Price on the Macbook Computer. Do not mention the Best Buy Membership! This customer is claiming they bought the wrong color of the computer. However returning on Sale items for the Full Price is a common scam. This isn’t a revenue growing opportunity. It is also isn’t an excuse to scam the company. Or…
2. Keep the customer to the best of your ability – Process the return at the sales rate then sell the laptop they intended to get retroactive at the sales Price. Of course to protect your skin as the company. Risk Mitigation strategy: You need to check the returned product. To ensure it is in the like new condition the Customer described. You want to keep the customer but you don’t want the Business to be scammed. Again you do not offer the Best Buy Membership. There might be a Warranty Opportunity here. However if not? You have to back off cause again this is a customer service matter and not a New Sale.

These are the ways I would go about helping this customer. What isn’t acceptable? Is the customer getting the product they didn’t want. Then getting squeezed in order to pad your bottom line. For a quotas of Best Buy Membership sales. You didn’t satisfy the customer the first time. Why would this be the place to expand revenue?
